We’re proud to introduce St. JOHN by Drake’s pt. II — a limited edition collection that explores the world and spirit of St. JOHN beyond the whitewashed walls of the London restaurants, honouring its wide-reaching friendships and its central philosophy of conviviality by imagining a uniform not of the kitchen but of play - and of lunch.
Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, the founders of St. JOHN, have long been Drake’s customers, while Drake’s Creative Director Michael Hill and the team prefer no table more than one covered in a white paper table cloth at St. JOHN. Operating around the corner from one another for many happy years, this collection is the proud, and natural, result of years of friendship.
Highlights include a robust late summer iteration of the signature Drake’s Chore Jacket in a textured soft green check linen, and a long-sleeve Breton jersey which celebrates the preferred garment of the vineyards and cellars. NOSE TO TAIL, the phrase so famously coined by Fergus, appears embroidered on the back of a heavyweight cotton sweatshirt in collegiate style which plays with the thought of St. JOHN as an institution, while last year’s Wine Gilet, a well-worn favourite of the restaurant’s co-founder Trevor Gulliver, is reimagined as a Potter’s Vest, in an ecru cotton twill with ample pockets and hardware details - ideal for long afternoons in the garden (if not potting, then sipping).
