Summer Tailoring at Savile Row & Canal Street

When it comes to wearability and sheer verve, you’ll be hard pressed to beat a linen suit for the summer months.
Our new linen suits make for consummate warm weather attire - breathable, of course, but with an inherent, unconventional elegance, particularly when it begins to crumple with corrugate with wear.
The lived-in personality that comes with a linen suit goes against the grain of neurotic tidiness that permeates menswear circles. This is a good thing. Linen offers a record of the season, the patination of times well spent and well dressed.
If this is perhaps a bridge too far, cotton is another option for warmer climes. Our Creative Director, Michael Hill, has long been a champion of the cotton suit: ‘Cotton isn’t always a popular fabric for tailoring, but you can’t beat it for sheer comfort and character. If you opt for a heavy drill cotton, it will mould to the wearer’s shape in a way that other fabrics don’t. In that way, cotton suits have the lovely effect of being a very personal item, in the same way as a pair of raw denim jeans, or a waxed field jacket.’
Made from a luxurious 7.5oz fabric spun in Ireland, tailored in the foothills of Vesuvio and pictured here alongside our cotton suiting on the streets of Manhattan, our new linen tailoring is now available exclusively in our stores on Savile Row and Canal Street.
