A Drake's Winter Story: Knitwear

Look at a grainy old photo of an iconic mountaineer, arctic explorer or grizzly, golden era frostbitten campaigner. Your Amundsens, your Hillarys, your Falcon Scotts, Shackletons and Norgays, and you're likely to notice one thing that they all have in common. No, not the grimace or elation of a man who has just survived six months clinging on for dear life in the harshest conditions that the world can throw at a human being, not that. We're talking about the fact that they're likely to appear wearing great knitwear!
Yes, knitwear, the beam that holds the barn together when it comes to quality winter clothes. And while we might not quite have the climbing chops to tackle K2 (or Snowdonia really for that matter), we do know how to make great knitwear. This winter our offering of cold weather staples expands to include Fair Isle jumpers knitted in the chilly reaches of Scotland using traditional patterns, techniques and shaggy textures; Alpine-ready heavy knit zip cardigans, knitted from thick, one-ply British woollen yarn in retro ecru evocative of undyed wool and our ever-popular chunky ribbed cardigan. We also introduce our 6-Ply Shawl Collar Cardigan with a garter stitch rib knit placket and shawl collar, available in pure camelhair and twisted lambswool, knitted on the banks of the river Teviot. Oh, and our Italian-made zip fleece in a shaggy bouclé wool returns in a series of new colourways. A piece for the mountain lodge and a corner seat at London's best cafe.
